Good Thursday, Friends … another crisp, cold, sunny November Oregon morning to be breathed in and enjoyed for exactly what it is, knowing it will become dark and wet soon enough.
You’re right. Wednesday’s Words really are coming to you a day late. I probably don’t need to tell you how that could happen … we all know some weeks are like that. This was one of them for me.
Up against the deadline for my newest book, All In The Soup Together: Four Seasons of Recipes & Reflections, it’s been a hectic, but (mostly) productive time, with lots of early mornings and late nights. Stay tuned for next week’s unveiling of the cover, a bit of sampling from its pages, and an announcement about a “Group Soup” book launch on Sunday, December 4th.
DISAPPOINTING NEWS for those planning to join this Sunday’s “Conversation With Friends”. It was to feature Portland poet & dramatist, Cindy William Gutierrez, talking with us about her creative process taking In The Name of Forgotten Women from a book of poetry titled Inlay With Nacre to a powerful onstage choreopoem. You can see the last posting about it here. This Sunday’s Conversation has been canceled and rescheduled for January. Hope you can join us then. I’ll keep you posted.
In the meantime, there is still plenty for us to do. Life, after all, is not meant to be a Spectator Sport. Get yourself out there, look up, get your hands dirty, and especially … get your heart in the game. And if it turns out that the ‘hokey pokey’ is really all that it’s about, at least you’ll know you played.
Until Next Wednesday (or whenever),
Love, Sulima
I wonder if “Forgotten Women “ is scheduled to be staged in the NYC area. Surely it would be an emotional experience.
Surely, Barbara, you are right about the “emotional experience”, but unfortunately, no. At least not at this time. The best we might hope for is a film, which would (in my opinion) take away from the emotional impact of the live performance. What I would love to see happen is for Oprah to come forward with the funding needed to put this show on the road. Just sayin’ ….
